Rainy weather failed to dampen the mood when the third Urban Games was officially launched in Newcastle last Thursday.   While street dancers, DJs and free runners showed off their skills, Rapper Misz Tee Begum performed a specially-commissioned rap as the official programme for the event was announced.   The first Games attracted around 300 people, while the following year the event in Whitley Bay featured some 300 performers and an estimated 8,000 spectators.   Sponsored by SoleHeaven.com, this year’s event – which will be held in Newcastle from August 17-19 – is expected to be the biggest yet. Free Runners Teach The Next Generation At Sunderland Adventure Week   Free-running is one of the fastest growing past-times in the world. Through the recent Sunderland Adventure week, two free-runners from the city have travelled around teaching children the basics of the sport. Craig Cheel and Aaron Turnbull from Apeuro held the sessions under the banner of the ‘Urban Games’. Urban Games & Hip Hop project team will be getting involved by taking part in an event @The Holy Biscuit, Shieldfield Newcastle Friday May  18th: there will be an exhibition of photos and videos by project participants. Saturday May 19th: Bringing together skaters, free runners and BMX riders in an exhibition, performance and showcase.
